Developing a long-term solution to onsite flooding
Case study: Castle Howard
When problems arose we were there to help, putting in place plans to stop any future problems in the grounds at Castle Howard.
Castle Howard is one of Britain’s finest stately homes. Set within an area of outstanding beauty in North Yorkshire it’s a popular destination for a day out.
Earlier this year the team at Castle Howard got in touch and asked us to help them with a reoccurring problem they were having. The team knew that they had problems with some of the drains because each summer an area of the grounds flooded, these then had to be closed due to health and safety concerns.
The team at Castle Howard were keen to invest in a long-term solution to their problem, an area where we were happy to help. We carried out drainage surveys at the site so we fully understood the problem and could come up with an appropriate solution.
Initially we recommended that Castle Howard upgraded the wastewater management systems in their kitchens. Our drainage surveys also highlighted that there was a need to rehabilitate the drains themselves; we worked closely with the team at Castle Howard to develop a long-term plan that was suitable for them to do this. Over the next few months we will be supporting Castle Howard on their journey to fully rehabilitating their drains.
“Castle Howard welcomes thousands of visitors each year to its house and grounds. This does bring its own challenges, ensuring our water and drainage systems meet the demands placed upon them. Three Sixty have been working closely with us to help improve our systems. They have been supportive and understanding offering guidance and solutions to ensure we are compliant and fit for the future. Working with Three Sixty in a positive and proactive way has helped us plan and budget for work required and has meant both organisations meet their objectives and requirements”.
